Germany approves use of cannabis “

The legislation would enable adults to own 25 grams of cannabis and to grow three plants for personal use.

Germany's residents, too, would be able to join the <x0kbubs of cannabis” on up to 500 members who can cultivate and sell the plant.

But, the bill must also be approved by German Parliament deputies, who return from summer vacation on 4 September.

German Health Minister Carl Lauterbach has considered the bill to be the <x0 turning <x0 minuscox1> in Germany's approach to cannabis.

He has said at a media conference that the most relaxed approach would reduce activity on the black market, reduce drug-related crime, and enable safe consumption of marijuana.

Even if approved by MPs, minors will be denied use, and the government will launch a campaign warning of health risks for minors in case of plant use.

We are introducing concepts of controlled legislation. We want to limit consumption and make it safer”, the minister has told reporters.

The proposed legislation is the Government of Prime Minister Olaf Schelz, which can turn Germany into one of the most liberal countries in Europe, in terms of cannabis policies.
