As a result of this disaster, considered the worst in the country's history, 1,000 buildings have been destroyed.
The “will take many years to rebuild Lahainan”, Greene said at a news conference, as officials are starting to plan on sheltering people who have been burned down.
Laharina is a famous destination and is visited by 2 million tourists a year.
