FBI agents were trying to enforce an arrest warrant at the suspect's home, Craig Deleuw. Robertson in Provo, south of Salt Lake, at 6:15 a.m. when the shooting started, says the FBI statement.
Robertson posted online Monday that he heard President Biden was coming to Utah and that he was planning to find a camouflage suit and “to clean dust from the M24” sniper.
The posts indicated he owned a long-range sniper with action and many other weapons, as well as camouflage garments, investigators said in documents handed down to the court.
According to authorities, Robertson had written on Facebook in September 2022 that This is the right time for one or two presidential murders. First Joe, then Kamala!! ” His post was included in court handed over file. No defence attorney was mentioned immediately for Mr Robertson in court documents.
No further details were published about the shooting, which are being analysed by the FBI.
President Biden is in the middle of a tour of the western United States. He visited the state of New Mexico on Wednesday, where he spoke at a factory that will produce turbines for wind power production and is expected to arrive later in Utah during the day.
On Thursday, he is expected to visit a Veterans Department hospital to talk about the law PACE, which expanded the benefits for US Army veterans and will hold a fundraising meeting for the 2024 presidential elections.
