Former European Integration Minister Bekim Colak has said the European Union will not suspend sanctions against Kosovo, without its three conditions being met on the part of the Kosovo Government for calming the situation in northern Kosovo.
In the special edition in Klan Kosova, he has said that the third EU condition involving announcing early elections in the four majority Serb municipalities in northern Kosovo has not yet been met.
I don't believe that Kosovo will be able to set EU or US conditions. I think it's totally pointless. First of all, why we've come to such a situation, why all that trauma, all those riots, fights and all that violence, Colak said.
“Then, an election cycle and again the sanctions are imposed so that we can again artificially recycle the early elections in northern municipalities”, he has said further.
I don't understand what pointless, harmful strategy has been applied in this case by the Government of Kosovo, and I don't think that the EU will have a minimum will to give up or suspend sanctions that are in effect as long as Kosovo and the Government of Kosovo do not meet the conditions set by the EU, and they are completely clear”.
Referring to the three EU provisions, he has mentioned calming the situation in the country's north, withdrawing the Kosovo Police from there, as well as announcing early elections, which, according to him, has not yet happened.
