Hycol has called on competent employers and authorities to take immediate action to prevent such cases in the future.
“While facing this heavy moment, all of us need to stress safety at the workplace, demanding that immediate measures be taken to prevent such tragic events in the future. We ask competent employers, authorities, and society to join us in a concerted effort to ensure that jobs are safe for all of our workers. At this sad moment and in memory of the worker Speed Gashi, we, the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo, seek a detailed investigation into the event that happened and seek responsibility for any violation of the law that may have occurred. This is mandatory to protect the rights and security of all our employees”, Hycol wrote on Facebook.
Furthermore, Hykoli has added that the Kosovo government has the constitutional obligation to protect the country's lives and rights of citizens.
And we also want to remind our social partner government which is its constitutional obligation to protect the lives and rights of our citizens, including the workers. An immediate intervention is required to address security issues at workplaces and to ensure that workers are able to secure a decent and secure life for their families. The family of the lost worker and his friends are in our minds and hearts in this difficult moment. We convey our heartfelt condolences and our greatest support to them. Our help and solidarity for them will be constant”, says further in Hycol's post.
