Britain warned its citizens travelling to Sweden on Sunday of possible terrorist attacks following cases of burning the Koran by anti-Islamic activists -- a move that has angered Muslims.
In updated travel guidelines, Britain's Foreign Ministry said Swedish authorities had successfully prevented some planned attacks and had conducted arrests.
“You need to pay great attention and attention in this period,” said in the announcement as it added that” will most likely terrorists try to carry out attacks in Sweden”, and areas visited by foreigners are potential targets.
Through a statement that acknowledged the change in travel instructions by British authorities, Sweden's National Security Adviser Henrik Landerholm reiterated Sweden's growing threats since the Koran burned.
Mr. Landerholm said the attack on the Swedish Embassy in Iraq on July 19th, an attempt to attack its embassy in Lebanon on August 9th, and also the August 1st attack on the Swedish consulate in Turkey affected risk assessment.
Based on laws that protect freedom of expression, the burning of the Koran is permitted in Sweden, but the burning of their sacred book is blasphemy for Muslims.
The United States government has also warned American citizens of possible terrorist attacks in Sweden in its statements of travel abroad.
