Positive movement towards recognising Kosovo by some states has warned Foreign Affairs Minister Donika Grovall.
The first of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed reservations as it is asked about the possibility of recognising the country from Ukraine, but has said there are positive moves towards securing new recognitions.
“We know how aggressive Serbia's campaign is, but also Russia's to prevent new recognitions and create Kosovo's recognition from various states. Therefore, we, none of the countries we talk about, do not place it publicly before such challenges, but there are numerous movements with many states of”, she said.
Gervala has said they are focusing on the 5 EU states, which have not yet recognised Kosovo, until she has mentioned the work being done in the country's membership in international organisations.
“We are focusing mainly on the five EU states because we think that if they are not realised they will become a serious challenge to Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic path. Membership in international organisations should not only be turned into a formal, prestigious issue, but must be an issue that should be seen as benefits in each organisation. We applied in May last year to the Council of Europe, in the meantime we've passed the first phase, so one of the two stages we've passed. Now there is the issue at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where there is enormous support for Kosovo”, Grovall said.
Gervala also spoke of punitive measures imposed by the European Union on Kosovo, which he said the same must be removed as soon as possible.
Those measures are meaningless to my opinion and must be removed as soon as possible. What the process is going to be, you're going to let me not discuss it publicly because there are some things that are good when they happen and it's good when we're at the end, but it's good to preserve some privacy against partners”, Donika Grovalla told RTK.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs made these comments during the reception that the Guso List organised for exiles.
