“The US knows exactly where the borders of Kosovo --”, the statement that disturbed Petkov and Serbian List

The director of the so-called “Office for Kosovo” in Serbia's Government, Petar Petkov, has reacted to US Ambassador Jeff Havenier, as he has said Kosovo is a democratic state, with existing borders.

Hovier said that “we know exactly where the” limit is, while adding that the US recognises Kosovo as sovereign, independent and democratic.

In a tweet, Petkov has said that Kosovo's “borders are of Serbia”, thus citing UN Resolution 1244.

While adding that the Serb List is a opposition party like all opposition parties, stressing that it does not consider the Serbian political subject, but ethnic Serb parties in Kosovo.

“We know Ambassador Jeff Hovener, the borders in Kosovo, are Serbia's borders in line with the UN Charter and UN Resolution 1244. And the Serbian List is the choice and voice of the Serbian people protecting the national interests of their people in Kosovo, not of foreign embassies”, Petkovic has declared.

Blerim Vela, chief of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani's cabinet, has reacted to the director of the so-called “Office for Kosovo” in Serbia's government, Petar Petkovic.

He through a Twitter post told Petkovic that he knows the limits from his requests for visits to Kosovo.

Reactions come after Havenier yesterday, he has declared that the US wants and expects the Serbian List to participate in the election.

The work we do with the Serbian List, as Kosovo's political party, is the work we do with other opposition parties in Kosovo”, he said.

Pos Petkov and the Serbian List have reacted to the ambassador of the United States of Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, who was clear that Kosovo is an independent democratic state and that the Serbian List is like all opposition parties in Kosovo, so it is not a Serb party but representing ethnic Serbs in Kosovo.

“For the Government of Kosovo, we are asking that it take measures that de-scalm tensions in the north and create a different environment in which the two countries can work towards full implementation of commitments they have made in the Ohrid Agreement. For Kosovo this means moving ahead with a certain urgency in the negotiation process and establishing an association of Serb majority municipalities as part of the commitment taken by the Kosovo government. It is not the only obligation it has and it is not the only provision of the Ohrid Agreement, but it is important. ” he said.

And after sending the message to Kosovo, Hovenier also asked Serbia to implement its obligations.

On the other hand, Houvenier stressed that the Serbian List is a Kosovo opposition party, sovereign and democratic state.

“We consider Kosovo a sovereign, independent and democratic state. And so, the work we do with the Serbian List, a party that is Kosovo's political party, the opposition party in Kosovo, is similar to the work we do with other opposition parties in Kosovo, but it should not be about the view of the United States, we reject any suggestion that Kosovo is somehow something other than the independent state, and that includes Kosovo's north. As I've said many times, we know exactly where the border is, is north of Mitrovica, right? And so, we demand that the Serbian List play its role as a political party in a sovereign, democratic and independent Kosovo. We do not consider it a Serbian political party, we consider it a party of ethnic Serbs in Kosovo, should make this point clear. ” he said.
