A police official has remained injured after a shootout between a person suspected of smuggling goods and several policemen that occurred last night in northern Kosovo.
Police have said an unknown person has hit the police by car, causing minor injuries.
Kosovo Police Deputy Commander for the Northern Region Veton Elshani told KoSSev that border police members last night after 22:00 have tried to stop a car in the vicinity of Josanica in the Leposavisic municipality.
Officials suspected that the vehicle had entered Kosovo via alternative roads from Serbia and that it had smuggled.
“has not stopped, has hit a cop and then had a fire exchange”, Elshani said.
He points out that there was no injuries from the shooting and that the policeman who was hit by the car has suffered minor injuries.
Kosovo police currently have no information on the suspect, as Elshani claims, the driver has already left, then left the car and left.
Police have seized the vehicle.
At the same time, Elshani had no information on whether or what was found in the car.
A similar case occurred a week ago in northern Kosovo, where, in the territory of Zubin Potok's municipality, police have attempted to stop a group of suspected smugglers.
But at that time five people -- four Serbian nationals and one Albanian -- have been arrested, while one of the suspects has left the scene.
