Two arrested Suhareka municipality officials appear before court

The two public officials -- Shaban and Kabashi -- were arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of misusing their positions in a tens of thousands of euros tender for extending several roads in the village of Mishtish in Suhareka last year.

The suspects, as public officials, have been engaged in managing and monitoring the contract in question where the value according to the Prosecution has been over 74 thousand euros.

Regarding this file it is said that suspects have compiled processes, and malicious/dirty sites where they have confirmed the performance of the works according to contract, while under the circumstances on the ground the contract has not been realised.

“The money has been paid to the economic operator, but the roads have not been paved as scheduled in the contract, the same is suspected that by their actions, they have afforded rich benefits to the other person - economic partner and caused damage to the budget of the Suhareka municipality of value of 74,214,74 Euro” - is said in the Prizren Prosecution Act.

Prosecutor Petrit Kryeziu's decision suspects have been detained in holding for 48 hours.

Meanwhile, for these claims, Suhareka municipality chairman Bali Muarremaj confirmed that one of the detainees is his director.

“One of those arrested is the director of Public Services, the other is the manager, the worker in the municipality” He told Muharremaj about KALLXO.com.

However, President Muharremaj said they have not accepted any official information on the prosecution's part of these arrests.

I don't have an official “Informs, state bodies have the legal right to continue their work. Without official information, I don't know. We have over 50 projects on the ground. So we expect final investigations” he said.

Muharremaj confirmed that the arrest has been made for projects in the village of Multi-Suhareka.

“Talk about projects in the village of Museum. It's about a way. There's a lot of roads, there's 20 roads in the Museum, but as far as I know that road is clear in July 2021. I know they told me that the square meters of the road are right there --” He said Muharremaj

Asked whether in connection with this project has ever been interviewed by the Prosecutor's Office, Suhareka's chairman said he refused to accept the invitation.

The prosecutor didn't invite me and there's no reason. May I have called the prosecution whenever, I'm able to be called to account from when I've become the head of Suhareka until today, of all that has happened, for every sense of” he said
