The head of the Government Commission for Missing Persons, Andy Hoti, has charged Serbia that it is deliberately stalling the implementation of the statement on those missing by force. He has said the Serbian side is trying to find reasons for not opening archives and not forming the supervisory commission to find people forcibly missing.
On the International Day of Persons Killed by Violence during the war in Kosovo, Hoti said they are expecting concrete action against Serbia to persuade him to open the archives, the KP reports.
No step has been taken by Serbia until today. We know Serbia and we know that it has not been ready to take steps, but we are also talking about as family that we care about even the international factor that they would have to be willing to condition Serbia to respond to the fate of these people... There have been 40 days of May 5th, when the declaration was adopted. But that deadline is delayed, I don't know what it's supposed to be because of the situation in the north. Then last month we were in Brussels, we discussed, there was another 30-day deadline, but we still have no answers from the EU in this case. As far as Serbia knows, it is trying to play the same game as it has with the statement that it has procrastinated for a term that it already turns on. Technical terms for not forming the commission and monitoring the declaration are met on technical issues. We still have no answers from the EU”, he said.
