Alarming, about 100,000 young people in Kosovo are neither in school nor in training nor at work

About two-thirds of the population in Kosovo or 1 million 195 thousand and 426) are working-age populations.

Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) reports that the rate of inactive working persons continues to remain quite high, 61. 4 percent, increasing by 0.7 percent compared to 2021.

The report released for the Labour Power Survey results for 2022 by the AKS says there are nearly 1.2 million working-age citizens, over 400,000 are employed, about 600,000 are unemployed, and over 733 thousand citizens are inactive, which means they are not employed, nor registered as unemployed, nor are they looking for jobs.

Disturbing according to AKS is another fact, 98 thousand and 705 young people are neither in school, in training, nor in work.

“Scala of inactivity continues to remain quite high (61.4 %), rising for 0.7%, compared to the previous year. The women's inactivity rate was too pronounced 78.0 %, compared to men, 44.5 %”, says the report published on the results of the Workers Power Survey for 2022 from the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK).

Also, according to the AKS, the employment rate was 2.7% higher than it was in the pre-2021 year, the unemployment rate was lower for (-81%), while for young people (15-24), the unemployment rate was lower for (-16,6%) than in the preceding year.

According to the AKS, the unemployment rate in Kosovo for 2022 is 12.6%.

Also, according to this report, there were 21 thousand 571 less than in the preceding year, inactive persons were 14 thousand and 698 less than in the preceding year, employed persons were 20 thousand and 509 more than in the previous year, and unemployed persons were 42 thousand and 80 less than in the preceding year.
