Double the support for Ukraine is the best way to help the global economy, American Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Sunday.

Speaking in margins at the 20 world's most industrialized member states' summit, (G20), which is being held in India, Yelen has said that “priority key” is that “doubles support for Ukraine” while defending against the Russian occupation.

After his visit to Kiev in February of this year, Yellen said that he has seen the difference that aid is making for Ukraine both civilians and the Ukrainian army.

The end of this war is essential, and it's the best thing we can do for the global economy”.

Russia's war in Ukraine has shocked the whole world after food and oil prices have increased.

The two countries are among the largest wheat exporters in the world.

An agreement that has enabled Ukraine to export its wheat through the Black Sea expires on Monday, unless Russia agrees to extend it.

On Wednesday, leaders of the seven most industrialized countries (G7) have pledged to support Ukraine as much as it needs.

The G7 plan envisions a framework under which individual states will sign bilateral agreements with Kiev to concreteise the types of weapons that will be sent to Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the war “special military operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.

As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions of others have been displaced from their homes. / REL/
