Five helicopters and 173 firefighters are operating in the area, while three hotels in the Chitar area are reportedly damaged by fire.
A British woman said she was evacuated from the hotel where she was staying with her sister and daughter, but now she was stuck on a beach with hundreds of others in the heat.
Firefighters from Slovakia were sent to Rhodes on Saturday to help local teams extinguish the fires.
Greece is facing intense heat this weekend, while meteorologists have warned that temperatures could reach up to 45 degrees Celsius.
One of the country's leading meteorologists says it could become the hottest weekend of July in Greece after 50 years.
