Stano said EU special envoy Miroslav Lajcak is visiting Kosovo to eventually find the way to stressing the situation and have the return of normalisation talks within the dialogue.

At the media conference, European Union for Foreign Policy spokesman Peter Stano said Lajcak is continuing to travel to the region, even within the spirit of European Council discussions.

This specific visit is the continuation of the European Council. The European Council, as you know, the leaders of the 27 EU member states were discussing the recent tensions between Kosovo and Serbia, they wanted to travel both to Pristina and Belgrade to move issues forward to finally find the way to de-tradition and not to have escalation, not to witness continued tensions, but to decertify and end talks on normal dialogue, he has said.

According to him, the leaders of the 27 EU member states have called on the two sides for de-deceleration of the situation. He added that currently no conditions have been created for the upcoming meeting within the dialogue.

This is the very objective and goal of all the activities currently under way. Thus, leaders of the 27 EU member states, of the European Union's highest decision-making body, have called on both sides to deceleration, to take immediate steps for de escalation. They also describe what both sides are expected to do, and the visit of EU Special Representative Lajcak to the region, individual leaders' visits from member states to the region are moving forward. They are there to create the atmosphere where both sides will finally start to behave in a European way and return to dialogue. This means immediate de-progression, ranking of steps as described earlier and then resolving the situation, reducing tensions and returning to normal work for dialogue. So, of course, at some point the next meeting of dialogue will be held, but for this, conditions have not been created now, we still have this phase where we have to move forward what was discussed in the European Council, so High Representative Lajcak is in Pristina today and will later be in Belgrade”, he added.

On the other hand, the European Union spokesman stressed that the focus should be on immediately escalating the situation.

For now, as I said, the priority is at the decision of the leaders of the 27 EU member states, at the conclusions of the European Council priority is immediate de-progression, so let's not focus on what might happen, now we need to focus on what needs to happen immediately, and what needs to happen immediately is de-tradition, so we need to see steps leading to immediate and urgent detenity, that's exactly what's being discussed as the continuation of the European Council by the EU Special Representative in Pristina and now in Belgrade, he added to the matter.

The European Union's minister for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, will meet with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti in the afternoon.
