On 28 June, the Government of Kosovo has officially announced punitive measures by the European Union.
Amid the provisional sanctions already under which Kosovo is located are “the integrity of” of the work of troops created under the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, Kosovo's failure at high-level meetings, the suspension of bilateral visits, the halting of funds for Kosovo from the IPA 2024, and the suspension of proposals submitted by Kosovo under the framework of the Western Balkans investment framework.
Kosovo also has remained outside the Digital European Programme worth 7.6 billion euros, where all other Western Balkan states will be assisted by the EU on the issue.
For the Social Democrats, these punitive measures are strictly measures against Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
In a response to Periscope, Nature Kuci, spokeswoman for the Social Democrat Party of Kosovo, has estimated that the sanctions imposed by the EU are the result of the Ohrid Agreement's accession. According to Kuci, the Kurti government, trying to stall the establishment of Serb majority municipalities' association, has taken unilateral action, which have later led to the first measures towards Kosovo.
EU measures towards Kosovo, for The PSD is the result of Kurt's unilateral actions in the country's north, as well as the result of the Ohrid Agreement's accession. The Kosovo government, wanting to put off the issue of establishing association, has reached the first measures. But these measures, more than for Kosovo, are measures for Kurtin”, Kuci has said of Periscope.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has called “unfair” sanctions imposed by the European Union. He has said these measures are temporary.
Kurti has also added that his government “can compromise with rule of law”. /Periscope.
