The US Embassy in Belgrade has reacted after the American Treasury has sanctioned Serbian intelligence chief and former Defence Minister Alexander Volin.
The US Embassy says such a decision is not intended for Serbia's institutions.
The US is said to be steadfast in its efforts to expose those involved in corrupt and destabilizing activities that undermine the rule of law in the Western Balkans and deepen Russia's malicious influence in the region.
“The US continues to support Serbia's citizens on the road to reforming the judicial system, fighting corruption and creating a better future”, the response concludes.
