According to the U.S. State Department's announcement, the sanction of Volin shows the US's determination to hold those involved in corruptive relations responsible and to advance their political and personal agendas at the expense of peace and stability in the Western Balkans.
Today's “Action holds Alexander Vulin responsible for his corrupt and destabilising actions that have also facilitated Russia's malicious activities in the region”, US Treasury Vice Secretary Brian S. Nelson.
The report reportedly has been involved in transnational organised crime, illegal narcotics operations and misuse of official office.
“Vulin has maintained a mutual beneficial relationship with Serbian arms dealer Slobodan Tasic, sponsored by the US, helping illegal shipments of Tsik's weapons move freely beyond the borders of Serbia”, the UN report says.
Voulin is now director of the Serbian BIA, who previously served as minister of defence and minister of Internal Affairs. The American Treasury says these institutions are not affected by the sanction of the vulin.
