Relations between Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti are not at the most satisfactory level.

Some initiatives undertaken by Prime Minister Edi Rama have not liked Prime Minister Albin Kurti at all, for which he has openly voiced his objections.

Rama's initiative for the Open Balkans “” had not found the support of Kosovo's prime minister, though he urged Kosovo to become part of it.

Following the escalation of the situation in Kosovo's north, Edi Rama later took over the drafting of a draft state for the Association of Serb majority municipalities, which he sent to the United States of America, France and Germany.

Rama's move was not welcomed in Kosovo, though it found international support.

Kurti had indicated that he did not read the draft, but proposed to Prime Minister Rama, to present Serbia at the Open Balkans meeting.

He added that the eighth article of Albania's Constitution says that the Republic of Albania protects the national rights of the Albanian people living outside its borders and that Rama should submit that draft to Belgrade for the Albanians and the Valley.

I have no doubt that Edi Rama believes his proposal is good and that being so, and all I propose is for Prime Minister Rama to present this draft statute to Vucic at the Balkan meeting open to Albanians in Medvedja and Bujanoc. Article 8 of Albania's Constitution says the Republic of Albania protects the national rights of the Albanian people living outside its borders. He must send it to Belgrade for the Albanians in the Valley. I didn't read the”, it was Kurti.

Albania's prime minister's calls to listen to international allies' advice to take action to expand the situation in the north have been almost daily.

But Prime Minister Albin Kurti, except for ignoring them, had also turned down invitations to a “meeting with Rama. Kurti said he was interested only in holding the collection of two governments -- Kosovo and Albania -- in order to sign the 13 agreements reached.

At this point, Albania's government had unilaterally cancelled the gathering of two governments, arguing that the situation in Kosovo is very serious by jeopardising the transition and breach of relations with international allies.

Rama insisted on a meeting with Kurt, and he refused.

Despite his refusal, Edi Rama has continued his commitment to the despassing of the situation in the north. He has even proposed a conference where Kosovo's prime minister and Serbia's president would be held closed until an agreement is reached. Rama believes the Brussels dialogue has not produced results.

Rama's proposal has not liked Kosovo's prime minister either. In a statement before the media, Kurti has said there have been international conferences in the past, but there are now basic agreements.

“We have had international conferences in the past and now we have a basic agreement, from February 27th of this year, in Brussels and also from March 18th to Ohrid with the application annex. All it has to do is make sure that basic agreement is implemented in its entirety and fair and balanced. That's why we're engaged in Brussels at the meetings we've got.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has so far tried to avoid meeting with Edi Rama, setting the signing of 13 agreements as a condition. Edi Rama announced Thursday that before the start of visits to the Balkans, he has signed the document with the thirteen agreements reached.

Rama has stated that he has done this “to remove his concern” Kurt.

“After a while towards Skopje to start a two-day visit to the capitals of the Western Balkans. Today morning, they have surrendered to the foreign ministry in Kosovo on 13 collection agreements of two governments signed on our part. With the confirmation of the Kosovo side, they immediately enter into force. I am hopeful that after the removal of public concern expressed by KM Kurti for citizens prevented from benefiting from 13 agreements, we will also have confirmation of the meeting with Albin this afternoon”, Rama said when he announced his agenda.

With that move, it appears that the Albanian prime minister has wanted to push Albin Kurti to reflect on a meeting and that the latter will not have excuses for failure.

We remember that Albin Kurti with his party Vetevendosje Movement has participated in the parliamentary elections in Albania.

Vetevendosje in Albania participated in the 2021 elections with three candidates -- namely, Boiken Abbasin in Tirana district, Ilaz Shehu in Lezha and Kreshnik Medjanin in Gjirokastra, but without securing any mandate.

Prime Minister Rama in a recent statement has said Albin Kurtin is named a friend, while Hashim Thaci “brother”./Periscopi/
