A fantastic season in Italy and now the moment for the captain's tape and first goal with Albania U21. Medon Berisha does not want to stop there. National A and League Champions are its major goals, while awaiting the Lechen debut in Serie A. The new midfielder has confessed to the “Albanian talent beginnings in football, to follow up with growth, the invitation received by the National Party, and the players that motivate him to move forward in his career.
Medo, how'd you get in touch with football? Who is the man who pushed you into this sport?
I started football when I was five. My father played soccer himself when he was younger, I think I inherited from that desire to play this beautiful sport. My whole family is there for me, but especially my father. When I was a kid he never missed my training or my fight. Even now Leche has come to visit me and support me very often. I talk to him after every fight, and he helps me to improve.
How did you feel when you first received an invitation from Albania U21? What do you think of the first gathering and fight?
I was honored to represent the red fan, and I was very happy. From my first match with Albania, U21 I remember being so excited when I sang the national anthem.
What does it mean for you to keep the tape in the friendly with Bulgaria? You even scored your first goal with the U-21 National...
I was so happy to be entrusted with the captain's tape. I feel a huge responsibility from this. As for the first goal marked with a scarlet fan, it was an indescribable feeling.
What can you distinguish from your football life so far? Is there an achievement you're proud of?
This season we became champions of Italy and I was able to help the team with 11 goals and five of my assistings. We were a very compact team and we always fought to the end. We took first place during the regular season and finally won “play off”.
Except for the good season with the 19-year-old Leches, you were also on the bench against Inter at Serie A. How do you feel about that?
I think it's a dream for every player to play at Serie A. It was a fantastic atmosphere with local fans. That gathering with Lechen gives me even more motivation to work and fulfill my dream.
Who is the Albanian player who motivates you the most, which you have as an example? What about the foreign player?
I have to think straight about Lorik Cana. He was an idol to me when I was younger and I followed the National. Lorik was a real warrior and leader. From foreign players I say Cristiano Ronaldo, because I respect his mentality. He has shown that at work you can achieve anything.
In Italy, there are now a large number of Albanians playing in Serie A. How do you feel about it and how much trust does it give you that soon and you will join them?
I am happy to hear and see Albanians playing in the best Italian league. I'll work hard to get out. I hope Leche gives me this opportunity.

Seeing you play abroad and many other new elements play in important European championships, do you think Albania has a bright future? *
Of course, there are many potentials in Albanian football. You can see the Albanian Football Federation is getting very modern. Very soon Albanian football will have a good future and perspective.
Personally, what is your biggest goal in football? There's a footballer on whose trail would you like to walk?
My goal is to play for Albania's A national and have the opportunity to play in the League Champions. I can't say a name on whose trail I want to walk. I want to build my own street in football.
