Kosovo professor working at Vienna University rejected by Pristina University

Ilir Murturi, professor of Vienna University, says he has been refused by the UP for the position of Professor Asstent at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

As Murturi has announced in a public writing he has expressed willingness to contribute to the field of research.

“I regret that I have accepted the news that the reviewing commission has rejected my application in the position of Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FIEK), University of Pristina (UP)”, Murturi wrote on Facebook.

I regret to have accepted the news that the recession commission has rejected my application in office Professor Assistent at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FIEK), University of Pristina (UP). I feel a moral obligation to share this news with colleagues and students who have studied and studied abroad and think about returning to Kosovo.

For me it has always been and remains a mission in life to return to Kosovo and contribute by practicing my research profession for eight years now. Of course, for colleagues in Vienna this has never been welcomed because for them, it is the senseless passage from a university that ranks among the world's most prestigious universities in an institution that does not enjoy a good reputation in the international scientific community. Because for them this is just sacrificing my academic career that I've built for the last six years at Vienna Technical University. And let's not even talk about the financial side and the conditions offered at Vienna Technical University in contrast with the UP. Despite all the disadvantages, I have entrusted the Pristina University/mission initiative for brain returns from abroad that encourages the name of applicants who have won their doctorate at one of the top 500 universities in the world. That's why I applied to this position. But reality on the ground, unfortunately, is quite different!

I've finished my doctorate at Vienna Technical University, Faculty of Information. The Vienna Technical University ranks 184th in the world, while it ranks 1st in Austria and 73rd in the world. My doctor's theme has been learned by one of the most quoted scientists in the field of computer science, is once a member of the European Academy and head of the Department of Informatics. Over the years, I have been working as a teacher at Vienna Technical University, I have published in conferences, the most intensive scientific magazine in the field of computer science that none of the staff has ever heard of. FEK doesn't own them. Despite my youth, I possess more scientific publication than FEK's regular and associate professors. And despite a great portfolio of scientific works, the research commission proposes the other candidate with doctors from a region university that is not ranked by any international institution, as well as a considerable number of the works. While, the most terrible part of this decision is that the resensive commission for the selected candidacy has accepted as “International contribution” works published in “RICOH” (photopope/botitors in Pristina), taskaries, as well as translations ) without doing any analysis of the quality, their impact on the relevant study field, or their use by some local or international educational institution! Accepting such publications is a serious violation of all academic norms and ethics. Just... No COMENT!

Without further the subject, their decision will not affect my academic career. I will continue my work at Vienna Technical University and certainly the happiest for it will be my colleagues from Vienna. As to this scandalous decision, I will complain and follow all legal ways to the end. The reason for my complaint will be alone and only to block this process and further stop the continuing destruction being committed to the University of Pristina. Let it remain in the conscience of members of the Senate of the University, Rectorate, Ministry of Technology and Science Education, as well as the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to address this issue of integrity and justice.
