Kosovo nurses' escape, migration can hardly stop

The number of nurses leaving Kosovo is huge. Some with their own initiative, and some through the companies that deal with their recruiting. One is also “Comsense Kosova”. While former leaders of the Infermies Union criticise the health system leaders, they consider the migration ban too late.
Albula Shala-Cela, director of “Comsense Kosova”, says that only this year, about 25 nurses have managed to go to Germany, while another 30 are in the testing phase.
“due from January (2023) to this day, I can count 25 people who have gone, while at the start of the next week five are expected to go, because it depends on when the visa and recognition process will end and there are 30 others waiting to complete their” process, she says, as she also pointed out the demands the German market has on recruiting nurses.
We only deal with Germany. The demand is too big, but to be real, we don't work with all German firms, but only with those who meet our demands, whether to secure your residence or to help you financially in the first month and so forth. So the demand is very large but we don't cooperate with all health institutions that are there”, Shala says.
The director of “Comsense Kosova”, who deals with recruiting nurses for the German market, says young people's interest in working in this state is quite high.
He even says that candidates are preparing themselves, who then seek to leave Kosovo.
The youth interest is enormous, especially in the past year, so much has increased that the nurse has started becoming a chosen door profession. Fifty percent more who are watching to enroll in such agencies as we have been last year but have changed ways. Three years ago, candidates have been interested in using all the benefits they have through us as free courses and so on, and now they've started preparing themselves for candidates who took the course themselves and come ready to go abroad”, she says.
Disturbing is seeing the former head of the Nurse Union, Fitim Havolly. Charged for the mass escape of nurses makes health leaders.
I've raised as a concern five years ago that this problem will happen to our country, but the fault is always in the policy that leads with our health system. Currently, the health system in Kosovo since the post-war, even being representatives in various parts of various organisations within the protection of this community, I have raised as a concern since five years ago that this problem will happen to our country, but the blame is always on people who run our health system”, Havolli says.
He considers the possibility of preventing the departure of health professionals as late as he says health is being managed in Kosovo.
The “is actually too late to prevent this escape, but at least to minimize or get to a slow elimination, since we are in crisis on this issue. Seeing how health institutions are being guided today. There is no greater concern than the escape of people who treat people's lives. It's a very serious matter. As soon as the professionals who have experience abroad, you have no professional record of”, Havol said. / EO
