The harvests in Ferizaj, the farmer: Greater Expenses and Lower Products

The Salahi family from the village of Ferizaj, which has crops of about 100 acres [100 ha], have begun harvesting, although they are unhappy with this year's productivity. Rainfall also led to several days late than usual, but temperatures also increased costs this year. Disillusionment is also with the government, since they estimate that the state should help them more.

In addition to failing to meet the productivity he had expected, he adds that even the price of wheat they will sell this year is lower.

The 56-year-old, who has more than two decades of agriculture, this year considers the poorest in history in terms of productivity. He says that since farming, he has not faced a year more difficult than this.

Because of the severe humidity, Salahi said that about three acres [3 ha] of wheat has been damaged. The same hope is not to lose at least.

This year we started about eight days later, that I started earlier than any other side... As for this year's crops, the earth's largest surface is here. Unfortunately, though, there are no good conditions for the gruna, and there are many injuries. The rankings we've been waiting for aren't, even though where we're now reaping in the village of Bibaij, here it seems that the productivity is in five tons, but back in other places where I'm stuck with three and a half tons. However, since farming in Kosovo has always become good, wheat or corn, but this year nobody's seen. The wheat damaged moisture, while corn is now damaging these large temperatures. The worst year in my history of farming is this year... But I hope of the 100 acres I have, which I get about 4 and a half tons, I'm satisfied with<x1...

The agricultural family Salahi has wheat crops in several villages in the Ferizaj municipality, such as the one in Dardani, Sjeva, Zlatar and Bibai.

Salai says that the quality of the stone is not the best.

Three years of wheat is not getting too good. The past two years have been May without rain, but the wheat has been a little better, and this year is the height of the heavy... We've been working with agriculture for a long time, but we're pretty much behind the war we've never stopped for 22 years. Agriculture sometimes gives you life and hope, sometimes demoralizing, it's not always okay”, says Salahi.

Salahi, who also works with his two brothers, says that this year the expenses have been higher.

“Grui has higher costs. We had to spend more this year, we had to spend almost more garbage, because of the cold, and we had to use more artificial waste, but it could generally be about three acres of damage, but I'm still working... The price of garbage? It's different from garbage. Last year that we changed artificial waste, we could have another 1000 euros... Every time I bring it from the fields to the mill, I cooperate that many years with the same owner”, Salahi adds.

It's also the lowest grain price they're selling this year.

According to him, the price per kilogram this year is about 21 cents.

The price per kilogram is smaller, year has been the price of 34 cents, and this year about 21 cents, but I don't know exactly because I haven't sold it yet... The profit is smaller, I don't think I am because I think I'm dating a middle average”, says Salahi.

Salahi has also addressed a remark for the Government of Kosovo to give priority to farmers with more hectares planted.

“The price of oil has been at the same price as last year... But with the government, I have a note, we farmers who are bigger, we have more expenses, you give us priority in subsidies, don't leave us last. The inspector's still not here to verify the fields... This year without 800 euros in hectare is a problem to cross. And last year, we've got 1,000 euros because we've had the fertilizer even more expensive, but last year's price has covered us because it's been 34 cents”, says Salahi.

According to reports, there are 4,000 hectares of wheat crops in Ferizaj. In some regions productivity is 4 tons per hectares, while as the overall average of Ferizaj productivity for this year is estimated at 3.5 tons per hectare. / KP
