The girl refused to escort him to the altar, the father of Sélia pays the wedding

A father of 48 years has refused to pay for his 19-year-old daughter's wedding. He posted this to a forum on the social network “Reddit”, while his post sparked numerous debates by dividing the community into 2 groups, one supporting his [...] decision.
In his post, he says how his daughter does not want him to accompany him in walking to the altar. This is because the girl disagrees with the symbol of this tradition. The 19-year-old says she is nobody's property, thus reasoning on her decision. The girl's father says that he raised his daughter to be independent and to think for herself, but that decision upset her.
I am 48 years old and my 19-year-old daughter has always been independent. I raised her to be such and I have always appreciated this, but recently we have faced an obstacle. She says that me and her mother don't own it as property, and that's why we don't have the right to give it away” writes in the post.
The father, who has decided to stay anonymous, said that he feels hurt by her decision. He also added that while respecting her decision, she does not feel that he should pay for his daughter's wedding.
At the end of the post, he added that he feels in conflict with himself and sought the help of forum members.
Many of them agreed with Father's decision.
A user wrote: “It is independent. Independent people deal with their own bills. ”
Another added: “Exactly. You don't own it, then why you have to pay for a wedding to give you a prop you don't own? You're not wrong and you have less financial stress. ”
You don't own it like it's said. Independence comes at a price and that price is for the person to pay his own bills and expenses.” Someone else added in support of Dad.
Meanwhile, there were many other members who disagreed with the 48-year-old decision by condemning his father's decision and supporting his daughter. Many even called it a manipulated tactic.
You better discuss this with your daughter more. But you're wrong to use your daughter's feelings as an excuse not to support your daughter.” One of the users expressed himself.
The girl said, this is my border, and Dad said let me break this line or I take my money back. So this wasn't a gift but a form of bribery.” Add another user.
I've always seen the wedding pay as a gift for the couple. No conditions for gifts” were set for another user.
After reading all the comments, the father decided to add an update to his post, stating that many people had misunderstood him and the reason he wanted his daughter to accompany him to walking up the altar was because of the pride he felt toward him. He also said that this incident would not harm his relationship with his daughter and that they were together reading various comments.
