Endorsing efforts in the north, Lajcak today in Kosovo

The EU's special envoy for dialogue Miroslav Lajcak will come back to Pristina today, in an effort to reinforce the situation in the country's north. It becomes known that Lajcak will meet with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti. “at 1500, Republic of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani awaits at the meeting [...]
“at 1500m, the president of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, is hosting the EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajčac”, reportedly reporting the Presidency Information Office.
After Pristina, the EU emissary is expected at a meeting with Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq to send Brussels' orders to Belgrade as well.
This is Lajcak's second visit in a month, as he paid a visit with American Balkan emissary Gabriel Escobar in early June.
Lajcak is expected again to repeat Brooksley's demands regarding the steps towards de escalation, which imply the removal of Kosovo special police units from the vicinity of municipal buildings in the north, in parallel with the withdrawal of Serb protesters; the removal of elected mayors from these sites and the proclamation of elections in the north. The public statement by Serbs is expected to participate in the polls, and this is a request to Belgrade to ensure this.
Miroslav Lajcak's visit comes at the moment when the European Union has begun implementing punitive measures against Kosovo, prepared and practiced since the second week of June, but about which official Pristina was formally announced on June 28th.
