Concern: For six months 40 police officers resign because of working conditions

Lack of health and life insurance, inadequate wages and poor working conditions are some of the problems Kosovo police continue to face. So says Radio Kosovo, Kosovo Police Chief Unionist Imer Zeqiri, who has indicated that only in the first six months [...]

Kosovo police continue to face problems of different natures. Kosovo Police Chief Economist Imer Zeqiri says that despite the risk of carrying Kosovo police on themselves, from the founding until now, it still remains out of health and life.

There's been 24 years since the Kosovo Police have been established and we have no health insurance and no life insurance, while based on work specifications, The KP comes out among the most endangered in carrying out official duties. We have 22 police officials who lost their lives during the post, over 4 thousand cases of duty injuries, and that some of them have remained with permanent disabilities”, Zeqiri said of RTK.

Speaking on “Focus” on Radio Kosovo, Kosovo Police Chief Unionist Imer Zeqiri, also cited the changes, which Kosovo Police have suffered under the new Law of Salaries.

The “is limited to 1 per cent of the wage additional budget for risklessness, which has not yet been executed with police officials' salaries. The new Law on Salaries has also hit pensioners, where so far the only reward for KP officials has been three jubilary salaries, now they too have been cancelled”, the chief unionist said.

Zeqiri said that in just the first six months of this year, about 40 police officers have resigned voluntarily, which most of them are due to undignified conditions, while warning more resignations, if they continue with this trend.

In the first six months of this year alone, we have about 40 voluntary resignations due to inadequate conditions, while for last year there are 100. If this continues with these conditions that Kosovo Police work, and there is no concrete reflection from the government, warnings for the resignation have many”, Imer Zeqiri has declared.

Chief Economist Imer Zeqiri said that in recent months as regards logistical means and uniforms, only police operating in the country's north have been completed. Unlike the days before the Kosovo Police Union handed over to the Kosovo Assembly, the petition signed with over 62 per cent of its members, which concerns dissatisfaction with the wage law.
