Food products prices are affordable for citizens. Economy officials think even the government decision that imposed stricter controls at border points with Serbia may have been used by businesses to raise prices. While, the Economic Oda requires high inspections and demands from the government that its decisions do not force merchants to increase prices.
Citizens complain about prices and seek state assistance after living has become unbearable.
Following the kidnapping of three border police officers from Belgrade authorities, Kosovo decided on increased measures at the border points with Serbia. This caused trucks with Serbian license plates to be unable to enter Kosovo. Later, the same decision, which was not called economic and trade but security, was eased by allowing trucks with Serbian license plates carrying goods from other countries to enter Kosovo.

Economics Professor Mustaf Kadrijaj declared for Kosovo that such decisions are not good and tend to be used by businesses to raise prices.
Kosovo Economic Ode Chairman (OEK) Lulzim Rafuna said he does not believe traders do such manipulations.
However, he warned that decisions like this for increased border measures could bring price hikes due to increased costs.
Rafuna said that to be more correct with citizens, respective institutions must engage more inspectors in markets.
The government, in turn, criticised the opposition, who sent the Law for the ceiling prices to the Constitutional Court for interpretation, as according to them, would solve this concern as well.
The Ministry of Industry, Intervention and Trade (MINT) in a written response to Kosova Preris says her inspectors conduct market monitoring on daily grounds to prevent price abuses.
Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) has warned that it will publish its report “The harmonised Consumption Awards” on 12 July for June, when the application for added measures began at border points with Serbia began. /Kosovo priss
