New Chief of Defense EULEX committed to helping Kosovo rule the law

The new head of the EU Mission for Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX), Giovanni Pietro Barbano, has held a Kurdish meeting with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani.

As EULEX reports, they exchanged their views on the current situation in Kosovo and the mandate of the EU's mission to rule the law in Kosovo.

For his part, Barbano said he would continue to support the institutions of rule of law in Kosovo.

“Barbano expressed his commitment to continue supporting the institutions of the rule of law in Kosovo towards increasing independence, sustainability and compliance with international standards and best practices, through various components of EULEX mandate”, the EULEX report said.

Meanwhile Osmani, according to the presidency's announcement, has stressed that “co-operation with EULEX in the framework of this mission's current mandate and with other legislative institutions in the country is extremely important, especially in this period”.

Kosovo, as a country aspiring to integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions, is committed to continued co-ordination and co-operation to ensure professional integrity and implementation of the best international practices”, president Osmani was quoted as saying.

At the meeting, according to the announcement, the president also spoke about the importance of co-operation in the area of rule of law and fighting organised crime for overcoming security challenges, as well as in protecting women's rights, children and non-US communities. /Klankosova. tv
