The number of victims in Italy goes to five as a result of fires and floods in the south.
Fires in Sicily led to the provisional closure of Palermo's airport after temperatures in the city went up to 47 degrees Celsius.
An 88-year-old woman was reportedly dead in San Martino delle Scale, several miles from the Sicilian capital, after the break caused by fires prevented emergency services from arriving on time.
Part of the highway was closed after 55 fires were reported on the island.
Storms in Lombardi claimed four lives, aged 16, 58 and two 19-year-olds.
