Barcelona has confirmed that their pre-sezonal friend in the US against Juvenus has been cancelled because of a virus that affected some of their players.
The Spanish team said in a statement that the match, scheduled to be played in Levis Stadium, California, on Saturday, will not take place.
More than 10 people have been affected within the first team unit, including players and staff.
“The FC Barcelona reports that the match against Juventus FC, which is expected to be played on July 22nd at 7:30 local time at Leviʹs Stadium corresponding to the Soccer Champions Tour, has been cancelled. An important group of FC Barcelona's team has been affected by a viral gastroenter”, said in the Catalonan announcement.
This match was Barcelona's first as part of their pre-sezonal tour of the US before the 2023-24 season.
The Xavi team is next to play Arsenal on July 27th, followed by matches against rivals Real Madrid and AC Milan.
They later face Tottenham Hotspur next month at Estaddi Olympiac Llyis Companys prior to their first match in the new La Ligas season towards Getafes on 13 August.
