He said that 59 people had lost their lives in the same period in the past year.

The fastest “are speed exceeded, overpassing in banned places, not respecting signaling. Lack of a safe distance, a particularly telephone distraction, causes damage or injury accidents... To this day 54 people have lost their lives, last year they were 59”, he said.

Rexhepi also indicated that this summer season tends to increase traffic accidents compared to last year.

Now at the beginning of this summer season, the number of damaged and injured accidents tends to increase compared to the previous year. But, if we refer to the data for the period of the year compared to the same period last year, the number of fatal accidents has marked drop”, he said at RTV Dukagjin.

He said traffic is charged with the arrival of fellow countrymen to Kosovo. According to him, there are over 430 thousand active vehicles in Kosovo, while nearly half the number comes from the diaspora.
