On the morning of June 18, submarine Titan lost contact with the ship on the surface. The submarine was intended to visit the ruins of the famous Titanic, located almost 4,000 feet [400 m] deep in Atlantic Ocean waters. Unfortunately, all five passengers on the submarine died from a catastrophic “explosion”.
But what really happened? Spanish engineer José Luis Martín explained about “Noius” what may have happened in this tragedy.
According to Martín, the diver was going down quietly when, at a depth of about 1,000 feet [1,700 m], lost stability “due to an electrical problem” and quickly dived into the ocean floor, in a vertical position, “was a stone and without any control of”, for about 900 meters. Titan exploded between 2,500 and 2700 feet [2,700 m] of deep water because of the pressure of millions of liters of water around it.
The submarine descends without incident and in a horizontal plan until, at a depth of about 7,000 feet [1,700 m], an electrical defect occurs. It no longer works the engine, and there's no pushing. This is when Titan loses communication with Poplar Price”, tells Martin about the medium mentioned above.
“Titani changes position and falls vertically like an arrow because 400 kilograms of passengers on board imbalance the submarine. Imagine the horror, fear, and agony of passengers. It was supposed to be like a horror movie”, followed by the expert, who believes everything happened within 48 and 71 seconds of free fall.
During that time, according to Martin, passengers were aware of the seriousness of the situation: “at that time they are understanding everything. And they're also in total darkness. It's hard to have an idea of what they've experienced right now. After these 48 seconds, the explosion occurs, and the immediate death of”.
