At least 12 people have lost their lives and more than 40 others have disappeared, following floods caused by torrential rains in central Afghanistan, a spokesman for the Taliban-led authorities announced on Sunday.
Zbalullah Mujahid said on July 23rd that emergency assistance is being sent to the disaster area in Yalrez County, in the province of Maidan Vardak.
With deep sorrow we have received news that 12 of our citizens have been martyred and 40 others have disappeared”, he said through a communique, AFP reports.
Some financial losses” have been caused, the spokesman has indicated.
The provincial governor's office has said through a communique that hundreds of houses have been damaged or destroyed, and that missing people are believed to be under the ruins of broken houses.
