Stano: Kurti's five-point plan failed to address crisis triggers

European Commission spokesman Peter Stano described Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's five-point plan as a failure to defuse the situation in the north, saying this plan does not respond favorably to the crisis's causes. Over the past few days and weeks, there have been intensive high-level contacts in the EU and with our allies and partners on both sides to find the way to exceeding the status quo in Kosovo. We're back in a situation, and events yesterday have shown and proved that there is no decomposition and that escalation is continuing. We say that this status quo must be overcome and we must move from a crisis management towards a stable process and calm should be deployed in northern Kosovo. But despite continued calls, Prime Minister Kurti has so far failed to take decisive actions and actions to defuse the situation. His 5-point plan in the letter sent to the High Representative fails to address in a sense some elements that have promoted and are the root cause of this crisis and for which we expect it to address with urgency and decisive measures. “, Stano said.
Stano: No sanctions for Kosovo
European Commission spokesman Peter Stano said there are no sanctions for Kosovo. But, he added, if there is no immediate suspension of the situation, there will be consequences for Kosovo's relations with the Union of Europe.
Let me clarify one thing: there are no sanctions. The EU imposes sanctions as restrictive measures based on the legal framework defined by member states after a long process of discussions on the Council. So there are no sanctions against Kosovo. The second is that, after the recent escalations, which we witnessed since the beginning of the month, the EU and the 27 EU member states unanimously said it expects, very clearly, and was a clear requirement, for Kosovo and Serbia to defuse recent tensions. Especially in the northern part of Kosovo caused by violence and implementation of election results in the four municipalities. And we have clearly said, if there is no immediate explosion, there will be consequences. And there will be consequences for our relationship. “, Stano said.
