He named this action unacceptable overreach by Belgrade, for something that, as he said, is the internal issue of Kosovo.
“I have been clear enough to send Serbian military forces to the border for an issue that does not belong to Serbia, but it is an internal issue of Kosovo. There's a overreach, it's unacceptable sending these bodies. They must return to their homeland. Belgrade must give up intervention in Kosovo's internal affairs.
The north is an internal issue of Kosovo. My message is: Kosovo, work with the EU and the US! Despite anger, do not lose the trust of your closest friends”, he told Euronews Albania.
Tensions in the north increased after young Albanian mayors of Zubin Potok, Leposaviqi and Zvecan took oath in schools and other municipal buildings for security reasons.
And on May 26th, they were assisted by the Kosovo Police after groups of local residents opposed their departure to offices in municipal buildings that were formerly used by Serbian officials.
The international community has strongly condemned the Kosovo Government's decision, as they have said, “to enter by force” into municipal buildings in the north. NATO called for the immediate suspension of the situation.
