Berlusconi came for the first time in office in 1994 and headed four governments until 2011, writes the BBC, traces Periscope.

He led the centre-right Forza Italy party, which entered the coalition under Prime Minister Giorgia Melon after the September elections, when he was elected into Italy's upper chamber, the Senate.
