Serbs rally in Gracanica for Vidovdan

The gathering of all Serbs in the municipality of Gracanica has begun.

Vidovdan's day is marked by Serbs every year for every June 28th.

As always, Vidovdan will be organised by the Orthodox Church. However, this year at another location.

Usually, “Vedovdan” is celebrated in Gazimestan, ten kilometers from the capital, Pristina, but this year will be held in Gracanica. This by the bishop's decision, Teodosije Shibalic.

Serb citizens from countries from Kosovo, but even neighbouring countries have already begun to gather for the holiday.

4 buses with license plates from Belgrade have already landed in Gracanica.

The same has provided details regarding the police commitments that will be undertaken under the activities that can be realised under the case of “Kurban Bajram” and “Vidovdan”.

According to the announcement, Kosovo police have envisioned several measures and strategic targets for implementation during tomorrow, so that the situation can pass smoothly and without incident.

The necessary planning, co-ordinating, preventing and operational measures will be taken so that activities can be carried out in the normal order and public order and calm, increased security measures to ensure order, calm and public security, guaranteeing freedom of movement for all citizens, control and management of traffic flow on all magic, regional and local roads, commitment of police units for traffic reoritability in ways where there can be temporary disruptions of any road or lanes, such as enforcement and legal authorisations, and situations in the face of various measures and regulations on Kosovo law enforcement.

Meanwhile, a day earlier, Serbian citizens gathered in northern Mitrovica and Gracanica to mark Vidovdan's holiday. A document called the “Vidovdan Declaration” was released.

The statement says the Serb community in Kosovo is “exposed to violence”.

From Belgrade, since last week, approval of the Kosovo Serb declaration has been warned. Meanwhile, even Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq had confirmed that Serbs would take <x0 steps active for Vidovdan, without specifying what they will be, but with the note that “at Vidovdan can be known all”.

The text of this document, containing five points, where it is said that “at Vidovdan is viewed all”, was read by former Zvecan municipality head Dragisa Milovovic.

The Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates this date in commemoration of Serbs in the battle against the army of the Ottoman Empire in Kosovo in 1389.

In Gazimestan, this day in June 1989, was former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic's speech, which was seen as a warning of wars to follow with the early 1990s.

On the same date, several years later, in 2001 respectively, Milosevic was extradited to The Hague's Tribunal for War Crimes in the former Yugoslavia, which he was charged with.
