Russian ambassador says Kosovo situation could lead to bloodshed throughout Balkans

According to him, this conflict could spread to at least one part of the Balkan region.

This situation is dangerous because there may be an even greater outbreak of conflict and renewal of bloodshed in northern Kosovo, and this could lead to the spread of tensions throughout the Balkans, or at least in a part of the Balkan region”, Botsan-Kharchenko said in an interview for Russian media “RT Balkan”, reports Tanjug, broadcast Kankosova.tv.

He added that the European Union and the West as a whole always show a unilateral approach to solving problems.

“It is hard to find any case or stage for solving problems in the former Yugoslavia starting in 1991, when the European Union had a completely impartial attitude. And the aspirations to support Serbia's rival have always been present, especially in resolving the Kosovo problem”, Botsan-Kharchenko said, adding that Russia supported the start of negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, but that the same one had no illusions and that the EU did not play the role of an honest mediator.

He stressed that the agreements reached more than 10 years ago and, above all, the formation of the Serb Majority Commission Association have remained only on paper.

“If it wanted an mediator like the European Union, which is backed by America, would very easily convince Pristina to implement what was signed. It is clear that there has been no such desire, but there has been a desire to encourage Pristina to use that document only as a cover to prepare for the deployment of full control over Kosovo's north”, the Russian ambassador to Belgrade, Transkosova.tv, said.

He stressed that it is not true that Pristina is difficult to discipline, but that there is no pressure on the authorities there, and that the sanctions Pristina is suffering are <x0hipocrycosis and Pharisaism”.

In such a situation, the Pristina regime can do what comes to mind and defend only its own interests directly. And their interest, of course, is not normalising relations with Belgrade and ensuring normal security and life for Serbs in the north, but establishing full control over the entire autonomous province's territory, including parts where Serbs live, and that is the target”, the Russian ambassador said.

Commenting on the opposition protests taking place in Serbia, Botsan-Kharchenko said such protests have not occurred only once, and that it is an apparent pressure on Serbia's leadership, President Vuciq and government “in all fronts”.

The first “is Kosovo, the second is Belgrade or vice versa. The goal or task of the West is to change Serbia's policy, the West needs two things -- Serbia's accession or support with anti-Russian sanctions -- and certainly recognition of Kosovo”, the Russian diplomat said.

He added that the West cannot agree with the fact that Serbia opposes sanctions, as he called <x0anti-ruse” and therefore does not allow the formation of an antirus barrier in Eastern Europe to end.

The recognition of Kosovo's independence is, as he says, the outcome of Serbia's “projection”, division and weakening.

“For the West is important that, in the current situation, in view of Ukraine, aim to show that everything ended peacefully and with a compromise on the Kosovo issue, that Belgrade recognised Kosovo and with recognition of Kosovo goes to the point that aggression NATO was justified. The West seeks recognition of Kosovo as justification for its aggression, its movements, during the Kosovo conflict and in general in the former Yugoslavia”, the Russian ambassador to Serbia, Botsan-Kharchenko, concluded. /Klankosova. tv
