Hamza, in a proposal for Insider, has said that within the municipality's capacities, the maximum is becoming. However, he has said the municipality's capacities to prevent disasters are limited.
I think we are among the most endangered municipalities because we have the largest number of rivers that cross the city of Mitrovica. Within our capabilities, we do our best. However, those capacities are clearly limited. We are hoping there will be no flooding because we know how we went not far from today. So, we're following the situation, it's left with pa”, it's declared.
IHMK has been warning of rainfall since tomorrow, which will include much of the rain.
“in some areas they will be more intense which can create rapid flows, local character flows, especially in river-like rivers that descend from mountain areas, which will result in the overcoming of their transport capacities and the possibility of presenting difficulties to the sewer systems, collapse of the earth, problems in communications, agriculture, etc., etc., reported on the IHMK report during the day.
IHMK warns floods as a cause of rain, these are areas that are endangered
According to the IHPC, the areas where floods threaten are the northern and southern areas. At the northern part, Mitrovica and Skenderaj -- where the Iber River, Sitnica and Drenica River -- are at risk, where there have been floods recently.
IHMK warns floods in other parts of Kosovo as well.
From these initial meteorological prognosis of rainfall and then hydrological, with short-term flooding potential from rain, it is projected to affect especially in:
The north side: Ibër Basin (Lug Systems): Ibrit, Sitnica Llap, Drenica etc.) where probability of overcoming a threshold of the 20-year flood returns: it is 20 % and 5-year-old: 24 %.
While the western, southern and eastern part (The White Drint, Lepenci and Morava of Binca) predicts a probability of overcoming a threshold of 5-year flood returns, roughly the smallest amount of rainfall”, the IHMK report said.
Mitrovica was hit by floods earlier this year. Mitrovica municipality deputy head Arian Tahiri has said the floods caused material damage worth 9m of 100 thousand euros.
“Based on professional reports made to Mitrovica municipality officials, 10 houses are uninhabitable, so they are completely damaged, and 200 houses are partially damaged. So they can be renovated and possibly made live again... We have managed to finalise the report, and according to this report, the damage in the South Mitrovica municipality is 9 million and 100,000 euros. These include private businesses, family economies, public infrastructure, public objects, values in the agriculture sector”, Tahiri had said.
The government has still managed to compensate for the January material damage in the municipality of Mitrovica, Skyright, Podujevo and Kline.
