Protests are being held in Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq.
Their demands are that these mayors, issued by the April 23rd elections, be withdrawn from Serb majority municipalities, as well as the special Kosovo Police Unit.
During an address on 31 May, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti rejected them, but left open the possibility for new local elections.
Kosovo police yesterday announced that the protest was calm initially, but in afternoons at various intervals several suspected persons have thrown stones at three Kosovo Police vehicles, where two of them have been caused material damage by breaking their windows. A police official has suffered injuries as a result of assault by strong means.
Serbs in the north have started protest on Friday (May 26th). Masked protesters and even those without masks have exercised violence against KFOR members, Kosovo Police and journalists.
They've thrown different glands towards peacekeepers, until they've damaged media cars, completely burning a television car.
As a result of violent protests, 30 KFOR soldiers have been wounded.
Two Serbs were arrested for this attack.
Following the Constitutional Court's decision in Pristina, for a month-long detention measure for the two arrested in this municipality, Radio Free Europe journalists have learned that citizens of public institutions are obliged to protest from last night, at different times.
The two arrested, allegedly part of the clashes between Serb protesters and KFOR members in that municipality, 29 May.
The Serbian list has identified the two detainees as Rados Petrovic and Dusan Obrenovic.
According to the prosecution, they are suspected to have committed criminal acts “reunification for activities against constitutional activity, with the aim of attacking the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo, “endangering persons in international protection” and “attacks on the official person”.
The Serbian list has considered the detention decision illegal and two persons as innocent.
