Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has given a relatively long interview for the popular media “Reuters”, where she has talked about the latest situation in northern Kosovo. In this interview, Osmani was tough with Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vuciq, whom she met last week during a summit in Moldova.
Osmani was asked about Prime Minister Albin Kurti's statement that the West is trying to satisfy Serbia, saying even among friends sometimes there are disagreements.
I think that since I've worked in the Kosovo institutions for a while, there are times when we have disagreements with the international community on tactics. But see, even among your best friends, even among your families, you sometimes have disagreements. But we have disagreements, according to my assessment, with the international community, is where the region has to move forward and that is Euro-Atlantic integration. We have no disagreement as to where Kosovo belongs and it is in the EU and NATO, and in any other organisation that is in our interest”, Osmani said.
The chief of state said that between Kosovo and internationals there is no dispute over strengthening Kosovo's sovereignty.
“I don't believe we have disagreements with the international community in our joint effort to strengthen Kosovo's sovereignty, territorial integrity, as well as our independence. In fact, the reason why Kosovo has been successful, except for the stability of its people, because we had allies on our side... Although sometimes we may disagree or see things differently about how Serbia is being seen, how Serbia is treated, I think we should focus on the positive, we should focus on what holds us together”, she added.
