Osmani said that in this address, I will convey the gratitude of the people of Kosovo for the European Parliament's contribution to freedom, democracy and the country's independence, as well as European travel.
This is the first time that a president of the Republic of Kosovo as an independent state will address the European Parliament's plenary session, announced in the Presidency's announcement.
President Osmani will address European Parliament deputies regarding Kosovo's achievements and its path towards membership in the European Union.
It will express the gratitude of Kosovo citizens for the support the European Parliament has offered for Kosovo since the 1990s.
During its stay in Strasbourg, where the European Parliament session is being held, European Parliament President Osmani will first be received by European Parliament President Roberta Metsola at a meeting to discuss co-operation between the Republic of Kosovo and this institution, and then to meet the leaders of key political groups represented in the European Parliament.
In addition to meetings with representatives of the European Parliament, during its stay in Strasbourg, President Osmani will also meet representatives of the Council of Europe.
For this Facebook address, President Osman himself wrote.
“Tomorrow, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, I will address the European Parliament. In 1998, President Rugova, as the winner of the Sakharov Prize, addressed the same institution to seek the support of European peoples for Kosovo freedom. 25 years after, before the same institution, I will convey the gratitude of the people of Kosovo for the European Parliament's contribution to our freedom, democracy and independence, as well as to our European path”, she wrote.
