Turkey's Defence Ministry through a communique for the media has indicated that it will launch for Kosovo a reserve battalion of soldiers following NATO-made demand. Such a decision NATO for increasing the number of forces in Kosovo has come after events and tensions in northern Kosovo.

After the events in Kosovo, a commando battalion linked to our 65th Mechanised Infantry Brigade (Kırklarelli), which was previously assigned to the NATO Force in Kosovo (KFOR), was appointed as a reserve unit, on the basis of the request made by NATO/Napol Joint Forces Command (Itali)<62>, the report said.
The communique says that Turkey continues to contribute to regional and global peace and stability through the United Nations, NATO, the EU and the OSCE and through bilateral reports.
In this context, they say Turkey is closely following developments in the Balkans, where they say Turkey has historical and cultural ties.
