Out of 30 days, detention has been assigned to three kidnapped police officials within Kosovo's territory by Serb forces. The Supreme Public Prosecutor in Kraleva has announced that they are suspected of criminal production, ownership, illegal possession and trafficking of weapons and explosive substances.
Kosovo's Foreign Ministry has announced that police officers are being held in inhumane, food-free conditions and without adequate medical treatment.
According to the lawyer from Serbia, Cedomir Stojkovic, sentences between 6 months and 12 years in prison could be pronounced for such acts.
It should be known that Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, under Article 110 of the Penal Code, can at any time forgive three Kosovo police officers and release them immediately. But it should also be known that the Court in Kralev has certainly not banned them without such direction from Aleksandar Vuciqit's office”, said Cedomir Stojkovic, a lawyer from Serbia.
Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has called for police to return to Kosovo.
“Democracy cannot have autism allies, nor can it deepen as far as absurd, remain silent to authorities. Kosovo police must be released as soon as” has said Haxhiu.
From Great Britain and Germany, they demanded that Pristina and Belgrade work on extending the situation.
We call for the immediate release of three Kosovo policemen detained on June 14th. We call on Kosovo and Serbia to keep up fully, avoid unilateral measures and take immediate action to stress. We repeat the calls to Prime Minister Kurti and his government to ensure that the elected mayors exercise their alternative arrangements outside municipal facilities and that special police units withdraw from municipal buildings. New comprehensive elections will be announced as soon as possible. We expect and encourage Kosovo Serbs to participate in those elections”, said the British Embassy's response in Kosovo.
“Germany demands the unconditional release of three detained police officers and calls on Kosovo and Serbia to immediately shift the situation”, German Ambassador to Kosovo Jorn Rohde has said.
The three Kosovo Police officials were kidnapped on 14 June during the time they were patrolling at the site called Tresave/Bare, on the Kosovo-Serbia border line.
