Kosovo police have announced today that in Monday's protest, which was held before the Zvecan municipality's targets, “70-80 violent persons have attacked police officials, who were in charge of official office.
According to the 24-hour report, suspects have used various explosives, firearms, stones and concrete bricks.
The case is being investigated as “The attack against the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo”.
“SU ♪ CONDITIONAL RKS-Zvecan 29.05,2023 With the supposed date of about 70-80 violent people using various explosives, firearms, stones and concrete bricks have attacked police officials who were in charge of official duty. The prosecutor has also been informed of the case, while police units are investigating the” case, the report said.
During this protest, 30 KFOR soldiers have remained injured following clashes with Serb protesters. Eleven soldiers are Italian contingents, and 19 others are Hungarian contingents.
Their injuries include limb fractures, burns, while 3 Hungarian soldiers are wounded with firearms.
KFOR Commander Angelo Michele Ristuccia has stated that unless KFOR intervened in the north, “would now be mourning the dead”.
If we hadn't intervened, we'd now be mourning for the dead”, Rictuccia declared.
He has said that in Zvecan there have been people who have deliberately promoted the” crowd of Serbian residents who have been gathered four days before the municipal object.
The situation in the north of the country has been tense by last week, when Kosovo police assisted elected mayors in the north to enter their offices in municipal facilities, since Serbian citizens had blocked access to the facilities.
