Presevo Valley is the only case in Europe where the state discriminates against a minority solely because of ethnic affiliation, said Navzad Lutfiu, chairman of the National Council in Bujanovac.
On Friday, Serbian authorities banned the Culture House Director in Bujanoc, Jetmir Ismaili and actor Gani Veselini, as well as prevented the premiere of two Albanian films.
Lutfiu has spoken as a guest at the RTK news centre.
Serbia for years has never changed access to Albanians in the Presevo Valley. So it's the only case in Europe where the state discriminates against a minority only because of ethnic affiliation. It has not sufficed for the ongoing discrimination that it has done over the years, it has not changed even forms of discrimination, while now hinders even the support coming from the Government of Kosovo, because it does not want to preserve Albanian substances and cultures within its territory”, he said.
Lutfi has called the behaviour of the Serbian Police unprofessional.
The way police were brought in is extremely unprofessional. So imagine, they've questioned a director while acting like he's been caught by a thief. This has been extremely unacceptable for all Albanians in the Presevo Valley”, he has said. “In films there is not a single element that could foster interethnic hatred as Serbian authorities claim”.
