I informed my colleagues in Brussels about my recent joint visit to the region, the current situation and the road ahead. During my visit to NATO headquarters, I also met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana to discuss the situation in northern Kosovo. We both agreed that immediate steps must be taken for de-progression. I further highlighted this point as I addressed NATO and EU ambassadors”, Lajcak wrote on Facebook.
I'm going to Washington DC later at the invitation of my American partners. We will have intense discussions on the way forward and future immediate steps”, he said.
There is tension in northern Kosovo now and several weeks after organised Serb groups are refusing to have Albanian mayors operate within the areas of northern municipalities.
Violent Serb protesters have attacked KFOR officials, police and media officials.
