He even said KFOR soldiers are trained and ready on every occasion.
At a media conference, where he spoke of KFOR activity, he clarified that they consistently have contacts with Kosovo institutions, but on May 29th, when the mayors of four northern municipalities settled in their offices there was no co-ordination.
“KFOR is willing to operate in any transition situation. Our soldiers are trained and willing to use all roads if necessary”.
KFOR's “Commander is constantly in contact with Kosovo institutions. I can't say there was co-ordination on May 29th”.
When these events started, it means a few days before May 29th, I can't say there was co-ordination, because it was one-sided action taken by Kosovo institutions to send mayors to municipalities through the use of force”, he added.
According to him, the situation now seems more calm, however, says they are monitoring the situation. Adding that dialogue is the only solution.
He also spoke of wounded soldiers who said that Italian soldiers were sent to Italy for treatment.
Gallini added that 500 soldiers from Turkey are trained and willing to intervene in cases of need.
“KFOR is acting as a carbon resolution of the Council of Europe to protect all communities in Kosovo. Dialogue is the only way to solve this problem. On the security side, the situation seems to have improved”.
During the protests, many soldiers have been injured by the use of force and weapons. Many soldiers from Italy and Hungary have been injured. At first there were 11 Italian soldiers, and in the following days there were many more. They weren't in danger for life. They were sent to Italy for medical treatment”.
The “new troops have come to Kosovo, 500 are from Turkey. They're being trained to be available in case of need”. /eo/
