Hoti told the former deputy head of the O mission at this meeting The SEU in Kosovo that “in Kosovo has no room for a Government that is sanctioned by Euro-Atlantic allies” because, according to him, Kosovo has existential relations with the West, and not just diplomatic.
“Meeting and very friendly and informative conversation with Edward P. Joseph from the US, a longtime foreign policy analyst and experienced expert on the Balkans. His perspective for current developments in the region is interesting”, Hoti wrote on Facebook.
He has said that Kosovo has always developed dialogue and has agreed with allies for the necessary steps, always in the function of Euro-Atlantic integration. According to him, Kosovo has made progress in the past only because it has made wise and co-ordinated policies with allies.
Among other things, he has said that unlike Serbia, Kosovo has no other way but Euro-Atlantic integration, nor does it want to follow any other path.
Otherwise, on May 30th, following tensions in the north, US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Havenier said that the Government of Kosovo has not co-ordinated with the United States for actions taken in the north and, for this reason, has suffered the first consequence: “Defender Europe 2023 exercises have ended” for it.
While the European Union has announced measures taken against Kosovo due to tensions in the north. The EU has said no sanctions or restrictive measures have been imposed against Kosovo, for which the framework and procedures set out in the EU should be respected, but only temporary measures and instruments to prove that the EU is serious in its efforts to reduce tensions.
EU spokesman Peter Stano has reiterated that these measures are temporary and that they will be removed from the agenda when Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti takes steps required by him to reduce tensions. He has said some of these measures have not been easy for the EU to approve, but have been taken because, according to him, “is seen as there are no steps for the extension of the” situation.
