Hoti: EU Sanction on Kosovo to Stop European Integration Process

“If Kosovo does not move further with politics, then there will be sanctions also in financial terms, because it is those who support the state of Kosovo to meet EU standards. If the finances stop, the EU expert stops, if the expert stops, then Kosovo places a deadlock on the European integration process”.

Thus has the connoisseur of integration processes, Agron Hoti, voicing the possible risk of European Union sanctions (BE) against Kosovo unless the country takes the necessary steps to ease tensions in the country's north.

He has stressed that an EU sanction would ban state reforms and hinder financing of various reforms, generating bans in the Kosovo European integration process.

If it is said in the media that it will be sanctioned by the EU, then the danger exists. Because an EU sanction for Kosovo means halting state reforms, in which Kosovo is continuing, means halting the financing of various reforms and sticking to the European integration process, where Kosovo intends to go”, he has declared at RTV Dukajni.

He has said that the European Commission, operating as the EU Government, proposes sanctions for the Parliament and the Council of EU Ministers. The decisions, according to him, take both sides.

However, Hoti has said the European Commission is also the body that oversees Kosovo's progress in the field of state and institutional development.

Politically, Hoti has said that Kosovo has co-operation with the EU through the EU delegation in the country.

Financially, according to him, there is co-operation through various funds, such as IPA funds, investment Framework Funds and others.

“The funds are separate from Kosovo, approved in the Kosovo Assembly and managed by the EU. Foreign implementing companies implement the projects through various ministries”, he added.

We remember that the EU has warned this week that it will communicate punitive measures against Kosovo, which the bloc has prepared because of the failure to implement steps required to reduce tensions in the north of the state.
